On December 7th, the Patients First Act, 2016 was passed, which marked a critical milestone in our path toward patient centred health care. The Act expands the mandate of LHINs in home care, primary care, and public health, and strengthens LHIN responsibilities in planning, health equity and engagement with patients, families and Indigenous and French-language health care partners.

As part of this transition, each CCAC will be integrated into a LHIN and here in Toronto Central our foremost priorities as the LHIN and CCAC become one organization is to ensure that patient care remains intact, business continuity is maintained and staff are well supported.
To achieve this, we are introducing a new integrated organizational structure that will provide a strong foundation for our combined organization that reflects the complexity of the health system and our shared commitment to making a difference for patients and their families. The new structure will come into effect when the transfer of CCAC staff into the LHINs takes place which will ensure we are well positioned to deliver the outcomes envisioned in the Patients First Act.
To learn more about our new integrated organization structure and the progress made to date in the implementation of the LHIN’s expanded mandate, please visit our Patients First webpage.

We look forward to keeping you updated as we continue on journey toward transformation.
