Toronto Region Personal Protective Equipment and Critical Supplies
In March 2020, in response to the growing number of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and critical supplies issues and shortages emerging across the Province, Ontario Health established five Regional Supply Chain Tables to gather, manage, and equitably distribute PPE and critical supplies to in scope and priority health sectors as defined by the Ministry within the five Regions. The Toronto Region Supply Chain Table is co-chaired by Dr. Nancy Kraetschmer and Rob Burgess.
The in scope health sectors include: Hospitals; Long-Term Care Homes; Retirement Homes; Home Care Providers; Primary Care Providers, specifically serving vulnerable and at-risk populations; Mental Health and Addictions Providers; Homes for Special Care; Community Service Providers and Shelters.
How to Request PPE: If you are a Toronto Region health service provider from a priority sector (as defined above) requiring PPE or critical supplies, please review the four-step escalation process for accessing supplies from the pandemic stockpile.
How to Request Swab Kits: Please note that requests for swab kits can be submitted directly to the Ministry of Health using the Swab Kit: Request Form.

Step 1: Review Current PPE Conservation & Stewardship Guidance

Step 2: Use Existing Supply Chain and Relationships to Obtain Supplies
Continue to work with your existing shared service organizations and/or supply chain partners to source PPE and critical supplies. Engage local and community partners, such as Family Health Teams, hospitals, home and community care, and long-term care facilities to understand how they may be able to support your organization's PPE needs.
Step 3: Seek New or Alternate Vendors
Review the Ontario Together Workplace PPE Supplier Directory to identify new or alternate PPE suppliers.
Step 4: Requesting Emergency Supplies
Supplies from the pandemic stockpile can be accessed on an emergency basis for those who have exhausted all efforts to procure their own stock through the established escalation process. Requests can be submitted using the Critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Intake Form.

To support the provincial response to the outbreak and the Minister’s Order on Personal Protective Equipment Data Collection, Ontario Health has developed a mechanism to collect information from in-scope providers regarding the availability of and access to critical supplies and equipment.
